What We Capture

The work that lives in your chest for years.

In the Barrel,
In the Deep

Most photographers stand on the beach and shoot from a comfortable distance. We don’t. Custom underwater housings take us half-in, half-out — splitting the world of salt air and ocean floor into a single frame that makes your jaw drop.

Drone aerials reveal the real scale of the coastline: the way a wave wraps a point, the emerald strip of jungle meeting white sand, you as a tiny human in something magnificent. Low-angle beach shots put the viewer in the sand beside you — GoPro rigs buried at the waterline, spray hitting the lens.

The “Silk & Motion” technique uses slow shutters (½s to 1s) that turn crashing surf into living, breathing texture — the ocean as pure energy rather than frozen droplets. And we always chase the candid: the unguarded laugh after a wipeout, the run into the surf, mid-air against a setting sun. The details nobody else captures — salt crusted on skin, footprints washing away, local street food steaming in golden light.

Where the Road Ends,
We Start

The guide most outfitters won’t hire because he’ll take you somewhere they can’t follow. As an ultra runner and endurance athlete who’s covered thousands of kilometers of remote trail, the founder built Best Coast Photo from the ground up around one idea: your expedition deserves full documentary coverage, not snapshots.

Off-grid jungle trails through Chiapas, hidden cenotes the tourists never find, secret surf breaks that require a two-hour hike to reach, overnight desert camps under skies that make you feel appropriately small. Small groups. Zero compromises. Every inch of the journey documented with the same obsessive visual craft as the photography sessions.

This isn’t tourism. It’s expedition storytelling — and you leave with a body of work that proves you were actually there.

About

Built by Salt Water
& Trail Dust

I came to photography the way most endurance athletes come to their obsessions — sideways, and completely by accident. I was an ultra runner before I was a photographer. Thousands of kilometers of remote trail in Mexico, Patagonia, Venezuela. I started bringing a camera to document the expeditions I was guiding. Then people started asking if they could hire just the photographer.

Best Coast Photo grew out of that tension between documenting your own adventures and being good enough at it that strangers want you at theirs. I founded Nahua Expeditions to lead packrafting trips through Mexico’s Copper Canyon and Chiapas jungle rivers, into Patagonia, up the flanks of Mount Roraima in Venezuela. The photography was always part of it. Now it has its own name.

Based in Puerto Vallarta, I work with surfers, travelers, and anyone who wants more than iPhone clips of their Mexico trip. Half-in/half-out barrel shots. Drone aerials that make the coastline look like the planet it is. Golden hour candids that remind you why you left home in the first place.

I will take you places your guidebook doesn’t know exist. And I’ll come back with photos that make people ask you where the hell you were.
